Garakumbe Innocent is the Program Director for Uganda Development Trust (UDET). Innocent has a strong business planning and management background built over 20 years. He has experience in small and medium enterprise development, natural resource management, micro-finance, organizational capacity assessment, project planning and management. He also has a hands-on experience in commercial banking and management of donor-funded projects. Innocent is a Micro-Save Africa certified microfinance trainer.
Innocent has in the past managed several projects and programs. Prior to joining UDET, Innocent worked as a Regional Enterprise Officer for International Gorilla Conservation Program (IGCP); a program of the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF). He was responsible for overseeing all AWF/IGCP’s enterprise development activities in Uganda, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. He also served as the Country Representative of IGCP/AWF in Uganda during the same period. Innocent also worked for Catholic Relief Services (CRS) as a Senior Program Manager/Team Leader for five years, managing a small enterprise development/microfinance program funded by USAID, European Union, Trocaire and CRS. Innocent has also worked with Volunteers for Development Concerns and Bank of Baroda (U) Ltd.
